Teilnahmevoraussetzungen	Teilnehmen können nur Besitzer einer Harley-Davidson oder Buell, die sich bis spätestens 5 Wochen vor dem Veranstaltungsdatum registriert und die Teilnahmegebühr überwiesen haben. Eine gültige Fahrerlaubnis wird selbstverständlich vorausgesetzt. Die Mitgliedschaft in der H.O.G. ist nicht erforderlich.
Teilnahmegebühren	Die Teilnahmegebühr beträgt pro Teilnehmer 75€. In dieser enthalten sind ein "German 500 Miles" T-Shirt, ein Pin und ein Patch. Darüber hinaus sind in dem Betrag kleine Snacks und Getränke an den Checkpoints sowie eine warme Mahlzeit (gegen Abend) enthalten.
Hinweise & Tipps	Es erfolgt keine technische Abnahme der Bikes durch den Veranstalter, jeder Fahrer ist für den ordnungsgemäßen Zustand seines Bikes selbst zuständig und fährt eigenverantwortlich und auf eigenes Risiko. Die "German 500 Miles" sind kein Rennen, es gibt also keine Preise für Geschwindigkeit zu gewinnen! Es kommt einzig darauf an, innerhalb der vorgegebenen Zeitfenster an den Checkpoints und am Ziel anzukommen. Dazu ist es nicht notwendig zu Rasen! Die Route verläuft ausschließlich über befestigte Straßen (also z.B. nicht über Schotterstraßen). Eine dem Straßenzustand angepasste, vorsichtige Fahrweise ist aber eine Selbstverständlichkeit. An jedem Etappenziel (Checkpoint) erhält der Teilnehmer einen Stempel in sein Teilnehmerheft sowie das Roadbook für die nächste Etappe. Neben den in den Roadbooks aufgeführten Checkpoints gibt es noch einige weitere geheime Kontrollpunkte (Secret Checkpoints), an denen das Teilnehmerheft ebenfalls gestempelt wird. Wenn am Ziel Stempel im Teilnehmerheft fehlen, werden T-Shirt, Pin und Patch leider nicht ausgegeben! Es wird empfohlen, eine detaillierte Straßenkarte Norddeutschlands (z.B. Maßstab 1:200.000) und/oder ein Navigationsgerät mitzuführen . Hilfreich sind Vorrichtungen (inkl. Beleuchtung!) zur Befestigung der Roadbooks (Format DIN A5 lang, ca. 15cm breit) am Bike. Da die Fahrt am Anfang des Herbstes und über Nacht stattfindet, sollte witterungsangemessene Bekleidung mitgeführt werden.

Prerequisites for participation	Only owners of a Harley-Davidson or Buell are allowed to participate, who have registered at the latest 5 weeks before the event and have transferred the participation fee. A valid driving license of course is presumed. Membership in the H.O.G. is not mandatory.
Participation fee	Participation fee is 75€ per person. Included in this fee are a "German 500 Miles" T-Shirt, a Pin and a Patch. Furthermore you'll get small snacks and drinks at the check points as well as a warm meal (in the evening).
Hints & Tipps	There's not going to be a technical inspection of the bikes by the event organizer, each biker has to make sure that her/his bike is safe and compliant to road traffic regulation. Each biker is driving self-reliant and on her/his own risk. The "German 500 Miles" are no race, so there's no prize to win for speed driving! The only goal is to reach the checkpoints and finish during the given time. There's no need to hurry! The route is running only on paved roads (e.g. no gravel roads). A cautious way of driving, adjusted to road conditions, is taken for granted. At each checkpoint the participant gets a stamp into his travel book as well as the road book for the next stage. Besides the mentioned checkpoints from the road books there will be some secret checkpoints where you'll also get a stamp. Remember: If there's a stamp missing in the travel book, you won't get yourPin and Patch! It is advisable to have a detailed map of Northern Germany (e.g. scale 1:200.000) and/or a navigation device. Helpful are gadgets (including illumination) to attach the road books to the bike (size of road books is DIN A5 long, about 15cm wide). As the event takes place overnight, be sure to have appropriate clothing with you.
